Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Squamous Cell Carcinoma is the second most common type of skin cancer. It can occur anywhere on the body, but is most commonly found on sun exposed skin such as the face, scalp, ears, neck hands and forearms. This type of skin cancer is often preceded by lesions called actinic keratoses or pre-cancers. The most common warning sign of a squamous cell skin cancer is a visible change on the skin such as a non healing bump or a new growth. It may appear as a firm, red bump or as a scaly flat lesion that may bleed, itch or become crusty. Squamous cell skin cancer can spread to other parts of the body.
Squamous cell skin cancer is highly curable if identified and treated early. If you are diagnosed with a skin cancer your doctor will recommend a treatment based on the size, shape, location and subtype of your skin cancer.
